Omicron Delta Chapter

 Member Activities - Spotlight

Omicron Delta would like to "spotlight" chapter member, Michele Sare.  Michele went to Haiti to assess what it would take to teach a public health nursing course at a school of nursing as an initiative with Nurses for Nurses International.  Michele arrived in Haiti 40 minutes before the earthquake and was in Leogane - where international aid did not arrive for 6 long days.  Michele was in an area where nurses were the only available care until additional resources arrived.

Below is a video about Michele's experience and her book that she authored explaining her experience. Her book is about the power of care - the power of nursing.  Michele states, "  With the new IOM report on the future of nursing - Today, Leogane speaks to that very charge - of working to the full extent of our skills and knowledge".  It is her hope that her book will help to uplift nursing in Haiti and shine a light on our common humanity.
