Omicron Delta Chapter

University of Phoenix

President's Welcome

Welcome to the Omicron Delta Chapter of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). With over 5000 members we are one of the largest chapters of the society with our members (students, graduates and nurse leaders) stretching across the United States and internationally. We are fortunate to have a virtual chapter with strong leadership and university campuses to support the activities of the chapter in the fulfillment of the society’s mission and purpose at regional and local levels. Our chapter’s service identity is Promoting Healthy Nurses and Communities through Collaboration.

I am honored to serve as President (again) of this chapter. I became involved in Sigma Theta Tau International twelve years ago when I was inducted into Omicron Delta, as one of the founding members and attended the chartering ceremony in Indianapolis, IN under the direction of Dr. Sandra Wise.  My involvement, as a University of Phoenix graduate, started my active involvement in the society in 1998. I have served as Secretary, President, Archivist, Scholarship committee member, and Liason from the Dean’s office.  At the local level, in the state of Arizona, I have participated in a state-wide research consortium of all the STTI chapters within the state. The purpose of the consortium was/is to support scholarship and research efforts of our members and non-members at research conferences. This collaboration of STTI chapters has provided annual regional conferences focused on scholarship, research and leadership for the last twelve years. Additionally, over the last few years I have served as an abstract reviewer for the Southern California Joint Sigma Theta Tau International Chapters Odyssey Planning Committee.

Being a virtual chapter does not mean that we do not have local activities that meet the needs of our members. But we are proud to be the first chapter to be recognized by the National Organization as a leader in virtual chapters. Local recruitment, selection, and induction of chapter members are accomplished annually at the various university campuses under the leadership of the Campus 2nd VPs in collaboration with the Chapter’s Officers. Nurse Leader applications are accepted through Sigma Theta Tau International on an ongoing basis. We encourage our local-ground campuses to participate in leadership, scholarship, and research activities that support the goals of the Chapter and International.

I share my background to encourage you – or rather challenge you - to become an active member in our chapter and the society. Renew your membership every year. Keep current with the information on our Website (www.omicrondelta.net), including local, regional and international conferences, events and volunteer opportunities. Respond to the Help Wanted announcements. Run for a chapter office. Contact your Campus 2nd VP or Area VP to identify volunteer opportunities such as attending local conferences and participating in induction ceremonies. Get involved!

Through your active participation our chapter will continue to grow and support the Honor Society of Nursing’s Collaborative Strategic Direction adopted by President, Dr. Karen Mortin. Recognizing STTI’s international nursing leadership, Omicron Delta looks forward to participating in the efforts of Vision 2020. We are collectively committed to the members of Omicron Delta and to the goals and vision of Sigma Theta Tau International.

I would like to thank our outgoing President, Sandy Carter, MSN, RN for her leadership and guidance during her term of office. Through her efforts and the efforts of her Board members the Chapter was able to achieve two Chapter Key Awards. As incoming President, I look forward to following her lead and achieve our third and fourth Key Awards.

I look forward to serving you, our members.

Sincerely,

Dr. Pam Fuller, MN, Ed,D, RN

President, Omicron Delta

Campus Locations

Omicron Delta Locations
Omicron Delta supports members across the globe. Because of our size and geographical nature, Omicron Delta has created the position of Area VP. Each Area VP supports an area that includes all current members represented by states within a specific geographical location as well as new members at the local campuses located within their area.

Additionally, in most cases, at each campus there is a position called a 2nd Vice President. The 2nd Vice President handles all membership issues at the local campus. Click here for a listing of each area as well as the Omicron Delta Officers that support those areas.
