President's Welcome

Welcome to the Omicron Delta Chapter of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). With over 5000 members we are one of the largest chapters of the society with our members (students, graduates and nurse leaders) stretching across the United States and internationally. We are fortunate to have a virtual chapter with strong leadership and university campuses to support the activities of the chapter in the fulfillment of the society’s mission and purpose at regional and local levels. Our chapter’s service identity is Promoting Healthy Nurses and Communities through Collaboration.
I am honored to serve as President of this chapter. I became involved in Sigma Theta Tau International twelve years ago when I was inducted into Omicron Delta, as one of the founding members and attended the chartering ceremony in Indianapolis, IN under the direction of Dr. Sandra Wise. My involvement, as a University of Phoenix graduate, started my active involvement in the society in 1998. I have served as Secretary, President, Archivist, Scholarship committee member, and Liaison from the University of Phoenix Dean’s office. At the local level, I was active in the state wide STTI chapter consortium, which provided research conferences to nurses within the state. Additionally, as part of my scholarship, I have served as an abstract reviewer for the Southern California Joint Sigma Theta Tau International Chapters Odyssey Planning Committee.
Omicron Delta is proud to be the first chapter to be recognized by the national organization as a leader in virtual chapters. Local recruitment, selection, and induction of chapter members are accomplished annually at the various University of Phoenix campuses under the direction of a chapter leader, (the Campus 2nd VP) in collaboration with faculty. We encourage our local-ground campuses to participate in leadership, scholarship, and research activities that support the goals of the Chapter and International.
I share my background to encourage you – or rather challenge you - to become an active member in our chapter and the society. Renew your membership every year. Keep current with the information on our Website (www.omicrondelta.net), including local, regional and international conferences, events and volunteer opportunities. Respond to the Help Wanted announcements on the Omicron Delta website. Run for a chapter office. Contact your Campus Chapter Leader to identify volunteer opportunities such as attending local conferences and participating in induction ceremonies. Get involved!
At the 2011 STTI Biennial Convention, the chapter will receive its 3rd Chapter Key Award. This award is given by headquarters to chapters that meet specific guidelines in serving its members. Also, at the convention, the chapter will also receive a Showcase of Regional Excellence award for our work related to creating welcoming environments. These activities demonstrate the commitment of the chapter leaders to uphold the direction and goals of STTI. I am personally most proud and humble to accept the Melanie C. Dreher award in October 2011 at STTI biannual meeting. This award is bestowed upon a member of STTI as Outstanding Dean support to a chapter. I am very committed to the chapter and the success of its members. It is an honor to accept the Melanie C. Dreher award.
Through your active participation our chapter will continue to grow and support the Honor Society of Nursing’s Collaborative Strategic Direction adopted by President, Dr. Karen Mortin. Recognizing STTI’s international nursing leadership, Omicron Delta looks forward to participating in the efforts of Vision 2020. We are collectively committed to the members of Omicron Delta and to the goals and vision of Sigma Theta Tau International.
I look forward to serving you, our members.
Sincerely,
Dr. Pam Fuller, MN, Ed,D, RN

Campus Locations

Omicron Delta supports members across the globe. Because of our size and geographical nature, Omicron Delta has created the position of Area Counselor. Each Area Counselor supports an area that includes all current members represented by states within a specific geographical location as well as new members at the local campuses located within their area.
Additionally, in most cases, at each campus there is a position called a 2nd Vice President. The 2nd Vice President handles all membership issues at the local campus. Click here for a listing of each area as well as the Omicron Delta Officers that support those areas.
