INDUCTION PROCESS OTHER THAN ANNUAL INDUCTION EVENT

   Eligibility

  1. If the candidate qualified for membership while a student, graduated within the last year, and was unaware of his/her eligibility, the individual may request to apply under student criteria in the next eligibility period. Otherwise, the alumni
    may apply to Omicron Delta two years post graduation as a Nurse Leader if they
    meet the criteria for nurse leader membership.

  2. Nurse Leader Criteria

    • Be a registered nurse, legally recognized to practice in his/her country

    • Hold at least a baccalaureate degree in nursing or an equivalent field

    • Have demonstrated achievement in nursing

      Examples: creativity/innovation in practice; leadership qualities contributing to improved health care; teaching; administration; curriculum development; improvement of the status of nursing organizations; innovative student-focused learning approaches; research development and utilization; entrepreneurial skills; staff development, mentoring of colleagues; innovative professional recognition programs, etc.

Nurse Leader Application Process

If not currently enrolled in a nursing degree program, nurse leaders should follow the link below to the Sigma Theta Tau International web site and review the Nurse Leader application process.

All nurse leader applications received through the web site nurse leader application will be forwarded to chapters for review. The candidate will be contacted by the chapter, once the application has been received and processed by STTI.  The chapter will have 30 days to review and provide a decision to Headquarters (Exclusion: International Research Congress and the Biennial Convention). If no response is received within 30 days the application will be forwarded to the International Review Task Force.
